Our Philosophy
Before you can begin to understand my outlook on professional development and training, you first should know the very root of my philosophy...great training is focused on the learner and their needs.
Learner (noun) : a person who is learning
Learning is not about corporate policies or facts on a map. To create great learning experiences, the design is centered on the person, the learner, the being who will carry out the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to the greater good (company success, personal fulfillment).
I have a deep rooted passion for working with professional development and training departments. I believe that learner success is as much dependent on the leadership and their learning as it is on individual (student or employee) learning. Based on my experience both in the training classroom and developing training for others to deliver, I have found that many of the professional development strategies currently implemented don’t provide as much assistance to learners as they have the potential to do so. Throughout the years, I have seen many organizations provide what I call “one-shot” training sessions for learners, provided by in-house professional development staff or an outside training entity. Many times these trainings are offered with little to no follow up offered throughout the year.
Although, the PD strategy described above is typical of many organizations throughout the country, in a variety of industries (corporate, education, medical), I believe that with minor enhancements and comprehensive professional development plans, learners can be exposed to meaningful opportunities that fit into both their professional and personal growth goals as well as provide essential skills and knowledge that produce results.
Thanks again for visiting my website. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you on developing a creative and effective professional development plan for your learners that produce the results we all long for—performance improvement.
Sincerely,
